14th August (Sunday) Depart from Edinburgh to Madrid
15th August (Monday) Pilgrims arrive in Madrid for World Youth Day
Feast of the Assumption of Mary
16th August (Tuesday) 5:30pm Opening Mass with Cardinal Rouco of Madrid
Location to be Plaza de Cibeles
17th August (Wednesday) Catechesis (teaching) sessions: 9am-12pm at various locations across Madrid
Youth Festival events: 4pm-11pm
18th August (Thursday) Catechesis (teaching) sessions: 9am-12pm at various locations across Madrid
5pm Papal Arrival and welcome at Plaza de Cibeles
Youth Festival events: 4pm-11pm
19th August (Friday) Catechesis (teaching) sessions: 9am-12pm at various locations across Madrid
9pm Stations of the Cross at Paseo de la Castellana: a re-enactment of the last hours of Jesus' life
Youth Festival events: 4pm-11pm (except during Stations of the Cross)
20th August (Saturday) Pilgrimage across Madrid to Cuatro Vientos for vigil
Evening Vigil with the Pope and sleep out 'under the stars': 8pm-11pm
21st August (Sunday) Papal Motorcade commencing prior to final Mass
9am Final Mass celebrated by the Pope

23rd August (Tuesday) Depart Madrid for Edinburgh.
Payment of £70 is due by 30th June 2010 to secure accommodation for World Youth Day 2011 Madrid.
Demand for good accommodation is high. We have managed to secure some at The University of Alcala residence on the east side. The WYF officials are staying there. The accommodation has a range of facilities including air-conditioning! There are good networks for bus and rail links, and it is close to the airport.
Everyone who wants to come to Madrid must pay the deposit as soon as possible. We want to avoid sleeping under the stars for a week
Cheques should be made out to RC DIOCESE of ABERDEEN. Please write World Youth Day on the back of the cheque. If paying by cash, please pay to Lukasz in the St Mary’s Inverness Office.
The second payment will be due Sept/Oct 2010 for flights (we will inform you of prices when the airlines publish them). Thank you for co-operation. Please act quickly.
