November- The Month of the Faithful Departed
We want you to be quite certain, brothers, about those who have fallen asleep, to make sure that you do not grieve for them, as others do who have no hope.
We believe that Jesus died and rose again, and that in the same way God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
(1 Thessalonians 4, 13-14)
Prayer of Saint Gertrude the Great
Patron Saint of Holy Souls
Eternal Father, I offer Thee the most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for all sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen
DE PROFUNDIS
(Out of the Depths)
Out of the depths have I cried unto Thee, O Lord, Lord hear my voice.
Let Thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication.
If Thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?
But there is forgiveness with Thee, because of Thy law I wait for Thee, O Lord.
My soul waiteth on His word, my soul hopeth in the Lord.
From the morning watch even until night let Israel hope in the Lord.
For with the Lord there is Mercy, and with Him is plentiful Redemption.
And He shall redeem Israel, from all their iniquities.

Prayer for the Dead
God our Father,
Your power brings us to birth,
Your providence guides our lives,
and by Your command we return to dust.
Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope for my family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.
In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.
Amen
